Childrens' Day

As long as I remember the date June 1st, has always rung one bell - Childrens' Day!!! Oh, the fun that we had, the candy, activities, no classes at schools, parents going easy at home and so on. Sometimes it felt better than Saint Nicholas Day. More surprises and more presents!!!
So it comes as an astonishment, that in the good US of A no one has thought about the idea of celebrating the Childrens' Day. The commercials, TV shows, toys, books, parties that could have happened! It looks to me like a missed opportunity for money making machines.

It was an easy decision to make the tradition going, once the children have joined us.
This year we made a mistake of giving in the curiosity of Zuzanna and we told her our plans, only to listen later to her complains that now it is no fun anymore... I had promised her that a breakfast will be a surprise.

We were hoping for a sleep in, but the excitement about the the day got better of the girls and woke them up. Kubus was awake anyway, and jumping on me and asking for "cziko", which is his version of Polish "mleczko" - milk:)

My girls are picky, but the chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, have satisfied them both. Kubus decided that he prefers his french vanilla yogurt, and being it his day, I fed a whole bowl of yummy yogurt to him. He actually did not get the idea what is going on today.

Kubus was making progress in potty training...

...and painting.

Later in the day we took our offspring to the bowling lane. That actually was out first, family bowling event. It would have turned out great, if we left our youngest one at home...
Unfortunately he had no idea how the bowling game works, and that he needs to take turns and not to run in the alley, or press the reset button constantly. We ended up holding him most of the time, and listen to his tantrums.  Don't let the pictures fool you :) This boy is having terrible twos now. Not fun...

Then we took our dear children for ice cream in one of the best ice cream places in RI. At least the sign says that...
It is located quite close to us, so it was convenient. I must say that the trouble with our youngest one continued. He saw a  toy car that did not want to leave. It was rather loud departing from that sweet place.

Kubus calmed down at home. He had a chance to play outside. The weather was finally pleasant to  enjoy it. He has his own private "beach", as he calls his sandbox:)

After the dinner of grilled baby back ribs, ( kids favorite ) and watching an episode of the "Ultimate tree houses", recorded on DVR ( our girls are fans of those kind of programs, another one that they enjoy is "Tanked" ), the girls settled down in beds. The troublemaker was already asleep:)

I do hope and think that they enjoyed their special day.
I, on the other hand, am waiting for tomorrow, because tomorrow is June 2nd, and for last 40 years I have been celebrating it as my birthday. Tomorrow it will be the 41st time and thankfully, it comes on Sunday this year!!!

Macro Manual Mode... Wednesday?

I have been writing this post since Monday. It was supposed to be MMMM:)
Due to various interruptions, I will try to post my efforts today. I do not want to leave those pictures until next Monday. Maybe something better will come up?

I had said, that I will try to find different object for my macro theme, but somehow it is not easy with my unsophisticated lenses. I don't complain.The nature is full of wonders, and I will stick to it:)
So on the beautiful Memorial Day I have captured colors in my backyard, while kids enjoyed the fun in the sun!

Pisze ten post juz od poniedzialku. Z powodu roznorakich przerywnikow, sprobuje "opublikowac" go dzisiaj. Nie chce zostawic go do nastepnego wydania "recznego poniedzialku".

{pretty, happy, funny, real} the Mother`s Day edition:)

As I mentioned before, my day, Mother's Day was celebrated according to the Polish date, May 26th. I did not mind at all... As for my children, girls in particular, I do not know if they take that day seriously. The paleo breakfast in bed, was entirely prepared by my hubby. Either my kids don't appreciate me too much ( and they should, I am taking good care of them!), or they don't get a lot of reminders and watch too much TV with the mothers gifts commercials running since April. Anyway, I have announced that next year I am going to eat only what they are going to cook for me, or I starve. We shall see...

But we had a nice afternoon in sunny, but chilly and windy Providence. We walked along the river, where nothing has left after first seasonal waterfire event which had happened yesterday, and we tried to take a couple of family pictures. They are my the "captured context of contentment in my daily life", as I join Like Mother, Like Daughter for the {phfr} edition. We ended our pleasant time with a yummy cake in "Cheesecake Factory". The girls were delighted!!!

Zobaczymy...

Probowalismy tez zrobic kilka rodzinnych zdjec. Sa one "uchwyconym kontekstem zadowolenia " w codziennych chwilach. Zakonczylismy spacer serniczkiem w "Cheesecake Factory" ku zachwycie dzieci:)

First Communion

I have yet to share a very important day - May 12, 2013. Yes, additionally it was Mother's Day, but I did not celebrated that day. I will ( as promised to me:)), celebrate the Polish version - May 26. It is always May 26th, and luckily it is Sunday this year!

But going back to the occasion. Zuzanna had her First Communion. And for our Catholic family that is really a great occasion. So great that, my sister, Zuzanna's godmother, came from Poland to celebrate it with us. Zuzia was very, very happy because of that.

We started celebrating on Saturday with a Sacrament of Reconciliation. Zuzia was not afraid, and going back from the confessional she was actually skipping!!! Then she announced that she likes going to the confession. One might think that the priest there was giving candy and toys as a penance:)
No, really that wasn't the case:)

The Sunday, May 12th, started gloomy, but warm. Zuzanna did not need a cardigan, that was ready for her since March. She left early with daddy for the group picture. The rest of family joined her later for the mass. It was beautiful, joyful and very children oriented. All of the children behave appropriately, Zuzanna did not wiped out a smile of her face. We came out of the church and were welcomed by warmth and full sun. Too bad that I had no time to play with my camera, and honestly I have to admit, that I did not take worse pictures in the long time. The only downside to this happy day:(

A couple of friends joined us in Carrabba's to celebrate with food, and then we left for home to relax and have a piece of the First Communion cake.

 Zuzia was taken aback by the amount of gifts she received from her family and friends. I am so glad that nobody talked to her about it and it was a big surprise.

The following week she was attending early, daily mass with daddy and was very happy to get up in the morning to receive the Eucharist. I hope she is going to be always as joyful as she was those days!

Ten wazny dzien o ktorym chce pisac, to Pierwsza Komunia Swieta Zuzi.

Reszta rodziny dolaczyla pozniej.

Make way for ducklings:)

It might come as a surprise to most of my friends, that after 12 years of living in close proximity to Boston, and reading countless times the classic "Make way for ducklings" to my children, we only have discovered the creatures inspired by this book, in Boston Park, last Saturday . Yet it is true! We have traveled to far places in this good US of A,  but things that are close to us take the longest to visit.
While taking my sister to the airport we decided to give her and ourselves a little tour in Boston,  (by the way she really liked the city), and then we have encountered the famous ducks!
The little man had trouble parting with them, so I think we will return there in the near future:)

I will start something new today. My audience in Poland, complains about the poor quality of google translator, so I will try to post bilingual, whenever possible:)

{pretty, happy, funny, real}

It has been a long time, really long...
I am not going to write all of the excuses, too long, too boring, too complicated. I just hope to get back onto the blogosphere on the regular bases. And the pictures...I hope to improve there.

The only excuse I am going to post, is a visit of my sister. She is a godmother of Zuzanna, and came to celebrate with us Zuzia's First Communion.
She came in perfect time. I needed her, and Zuzia needed someone other than us, too.
I had a very good time and hope the same for her.

As I am joining Like Mother, Like Daughter today for the {phfr} edition today, I have chosen few highlights from her visit.

{pretty}

Visiting the old Boston. Zuzanna did not want to leave her godmother's side:)

{happy}

Happy was definitely the event of Zuzia's First Communion. My sister presence made it extra special.

{funny}

Trying to get up close pictures of the two of us. We are not getting any younger, but so much wiser instead:)

{real}

Saying good bye at the airport. Way too sad and too real:(
