Snow

Our first real snow of the season.
Not too much to complain, but enough to enjoy!

The wind was the biggest factor; but it did not stop two of my kids to eagerly play outside!

When nighttime fell it was time for a little shoveling and x-country skiing on the streets. Unfortunately the snow plough trucks made it less enjoyable.

The next day was great for sledding,

or a little bit of downhill.

But I think my photowalk was the best :)

Happy Birthday

In the mid bleak winter, somebody turned forty five.
Time goes by without asking our permission...

You are not perfect but you are the dearest and you are loved!

Happy Birthday Andrzej,

Key and not a lot of other things

Few random "K" books, including the one that I've read to all my kiddoes "Flannel kisses"; very sweet.

The "K" words in dictionary

Trying very hard to practice writing

The books that inspired singing "Three Little Kittens who lost their mittens..."

Kicking a ball in the playroom is no that fun at all!

Kubus wasn't sold on flying kites:(

Imprinting key in quite stale and used playdough ( shame on mama )

Crayon rubbing keys was more interesting

The kangaroos and koalas went well with a little lesson about world geography

Few stories of our K author - Ezra Jack Keats

I find it harder and harder to focus on the alphabet path.

Maybe it is the season, or extra stress that came into our lives recently or Kubus' resistance to do things. Maybe I am doing it less interesting than I used to or maybe all things mentioned above.

But I have decided that instead of beating myself over it, or just skipping it all together, I will do as much as I can.

The "K" week went mostly with reading books, writing few words and a little lesson in geography.
We tried to do some kicking too, by which I mean kicking ball; the cold weather outside kept our chances to minimum and playing soccer inside did not seem like a lot of fun.

Kubus also was disappointed by lack of interesting "K" trucks. Somehow "knuckle-boom" truck was difficult to find.

My forgetfulness was the reason of not making rice krispies bars for a snack ( forgot to buy the necessary cereal for that recipe ), and my excitement for flying kites was extinguished by Kubus' memory of losing a kite one and a half year ago.
He still has a fear of losing another one.

So the "K" week wasn't very eventful but I am not going to beat myself about it.
Sometimes I just have to let it go and accept the limits.

And tomorrow? Who knows maybe the lego building in "L" week will bring more memories!

Jacob, jumping jacks and jellybeans

After a long December break from preschooling, last week we jumped into the Along the alphabet path program.
The routine came back.

First I thought that with letter J we won't be able to do much.
Certainty there were not a lot of vehicles we were interested in, but as the week went by and after visiting libraries I have discovered fun things do read and do.
I still can't convince Kubus to write or color better (  we might have trouble next year at school ),
but he is very much into reading and enjoys numbers as well. He enjoyed games and other things that kept him moving.

We've read few interesting, put jigsaw puzzles together and did jar experiments.
The jellybeans were a hit (!) and Jenga game came very handy:)
The J also starts the Jacob name and that's why so far it has been my little Jacob's favorite week!

Sharpened pencils ready to be used. In truth I keep using the mostly. I enjoy the adult coloring books :)

Not really enjoying it :(

We included jumping jacks in our daily exercises. I joined too :)

Not too many words J from dictionary

Trying to trace again

Sorting, counting and tasting jellybeans was the most favorite activity :)

Jenga!

Jenga blocks were very useful at the construction site

Susan Jeffers, our J author; luckily it was still Christmas season and we chose few Christmas stories

Jigsaw puzzle

Matching lids to jars; too bad majority of them are Mason jars; not too many choices

How many jellybeans in the jar? Andrzej came up with 250, Kiki 315, Zuzia 270. The correct number? 260!

Making few jar experimants. The J-ulcano is always very popular!

Jacob's gift; very proper for the Christmas season, the J week and the name itself!

Making our own jigsaw puzzle; cereal boxes and coloring pages to reuse

What's left from J dinner - Jambalaya!
