A visit with Santa:)

A trip "up" north to the fun store. Really entertaining place. We caught the good timing between the crowds!

Light walk

Kubus has joined me for a neighborhood light walk.
Some lights were more impressive some less.
Our were less...
I have to hit the sales after Christmas to prepare for the festivities  next year. Although the decorations are not on top of my Christmas preparation list, children like it and it puts everybody in better spirits !

The Gaudete weekend

We had a wonderful weekend!

The weather is so delightful ( maybe except today ), that one would like to spend those winter days outside in the sweatshirt the most. It clearly helped in taking family Christmas pictures since the cold did not bother us.
Getting everybody smiling at the same time, that's a different story:)

Saturday had us busy with pictures, making St. Lucia bread and Christmas choir party in the evening.

It was the first time that we left kids alone in the evening with Kiki putting Kubus to bed.
They surprised us greatly. I need to give them more credit that I usually do. And of course take advantage of that too.

In the morning of St. Lucia day, our St. Lucia had a hard time to wake everybody up even at 8 o'clock!
We had our breakfast of hot cocoa, coffee and sweet bread in pajamas on the our bedroom rug.

We put the decorations up as we usually do on Gaudete Sunday and continued with advent readings. Christmas is only ten days away:)

A sneak peak from picture session; trying to make everybody cooperate!

Into second week of Advent

The weather seriously looks and feels like middle of autumn, but I won't complain about it.
Not yet, my skis are not ready to be dusted off.
Snow, yes please in January, with a little bit for Christmas.  It would be definitely splendid and magical:)

This past weekend we were lacking one member of the family. Kiki went for an Opus Dei retreat for high school girls. After we picked her up she said it was time well spent and she is ready to do it every December during  high years. I am glad she is working on her inner spiritual growth, specially in teenage years.

The rest of us decided to enjoy the weather outdoors and go for yet another late fall walk. I don't think I'll ever get tired of those!

In the evening we decided to build or rather put together ready parts of Gingerbread house.
The kids seriously acknowledged that they were Hansel and Gretchen and mama was a bad witch. Supposedly I even looked like her ( I do not ! ).

The anticipation of St. Nicholas coming was great Saturday evening and it interfered with somebody's sleeping.
The planned Zuzia/Kubus sleepover was a disaster:) One little boy refused to fall asleep while his older sister was eager to do so around 11pm .
The Sunday morning was an early rise too. I obviously knew about it. I also was a child some long time ago, waking up during that magical night of St. Nicholas feast and checking for presents under my pillow :) Great memories!

St. Nicholas did not disappoint our children and showered them with few special gifts:)

The Advent continues with another candle being lit, more books being unwrapped and Jesse tree filling up with ornaments.

We will continue doing so between our daily tasks and chores; preparing ourselves of Jesus coming and making memories at the same time.

"I" is for an inch and inside the box

A rather short "I" lessons since there were many more Interesting and Important things going around the house.
We walked our alphabet path any way and the most fascinating thing for Kubus was measuring .
Once he got the measuring tape he did not want to let go of it:)

He also enjoyed a lot of ice cream and we might be done with this dessert for the next few months.
I don't know how others feel about ice cream in winter by I don't like mixing snow with ice cream. Hot chocolate or hot tea are more like it. But that is just me.
