Holy Saturday

In our family this particular day is reserved for blessing of the food. It is a Polish tradition and very respected throughout Polish communities all over the world.
Surely we have found a Polish parish that blesses the baskets full of food, that is going to be served during Easter Sunday.
Today we barely made it to the blessing but the food is blessed, partially eaten  ( the chocolate bunnies ) and the celebration can begin.
Blessed Easter and Joyful Alleluia!

{pretty, happy, funny, real} in the garden

I think that it is finally time to start working in the garden.
Again I have new plans for it. Like last year I want to make it bigger. I guess time will tell if I've got enough will and stamina to make it work.
With the help of warm, and sunny weather in the last days, I have started making the soil ready. Kubus really wanted to help, but most of the time he was in my way. So far I have dug one vegetable bed. Interestingly I have notice some green plants growing from the soil, and I have enough gardening knowledge to proudly admit that it is not a weed! I think I might have garlic in the there...

While enjoying the sun, I couldn't help myself from catching up on my somewhat forgotten hobby: taking pictures in Macro Manual Mode! I still have a very simple lens extension but maybe St Nicholas will bring me something more sophisticated in the near future. For now though it is working well enough for me to enjoy it!

Here are my few pics from the day.
I join today Like Mother Like Daughter in capturing the context of contentment in every day life !

The Sun through the lenses with extension. Why it came out this different way, I just have no clue, but I like it!

A very common, blooming weed! It does make a difference when one looks at it through magnifying lenses!

Future blueberry, from up close and from far .

Back to gardening, and mysterious plants.

Yarn Along and Pierced Ears :)

( Joining Ginny today )

I am still reading "Shirt of Flame"; I try not to hurry. Scott Hahn recommended that while reading spiritual books, one should not read more than one or two chapters at the time. Sometimes I have trouble following his recommendations!

So I am reading it slowly, but in meantime I have picked up "The Longest Ride" by Nicholas Sparks.
A cheesy romance, I know. As I stated some time ago, he is the only romantic writer that I can read, but after this last one, I think I'll forgo the romance all together. Not my cup of tea. I've read his books, mostly due to a interesting twist in the story, but lately even that part is not catching my attention.

So while I needed something "lite",  a rebound from real serious reading, I prefer rather to wait for a very good book to come along than waste time on this so so lecture. I do not recommend it.

As for my knitting adventures, I started turquois project for Zuzia. So far I have managed to knit some and unravel it and I am about to start it again. It was way too big, which is a good thing when you need to restart again. On the other hand I don't see the end of it in the near future. With Spring cleaning on the agenda, Easter and "preparation for vacation", I might not find the time!

Speaking of Zuzia, this girl braved out few days ago and had her ears pierced. The beautiful earrings that she has gotten for Baptism and First Communion ( very Polish gift-ing ), will finally make an appearance in her ears ( now she just wears the temporary ones, until her ears heal ). She is very proud of herself and very happy. She asked me to mention it on my blog, so I am doing it because not every day a girl gets her ears pierced!
